Professional Experience

Mira Rho, MD

Dr. Rho received her undergraduate degree from Yale University in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. She graduated with a medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Primary care/Internal Medicine in 2005. Dr. Rho then completed a Nephrology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine. She joined Nephrology and Hypertension Associates in 2007 and is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. She is board certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. She is currently an active member of the American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, and American College of Physicians.

Marilyn E. Olsen, PA-C, MHS

A 1998 graduate of Quinnipiac University PA Program, Ms. Olsen received her Master's Degree in Health Science. She has been working at Nephrology & Hypertension Associates ever since and specializes in late stage chronic kidney disease care, post-transplant care and hemodialysis. Ms. Olsen is an adjunct professor for the Quinnipiac University PA Program and is actively involved in patient education as well as advanced training for other Physician Assistants interested in nephrology.

Monzurul H Chowdhury, M.D.

Dr. Chowdhury received his Medical Degree from Dhaka Medical College in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) from London, UK. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Mary’s Hospital, where he also served as a Chief Resident. He subsequently completed his fellowship training in Nephrology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Chowdhury is an active member of the American Society of Nephrology, International Society of Nephrology, and American College of Physicians. His areas of interest include chronic kidney disease, hypertension, renal stone disease, mineral and bone disorder, diabetic nephropathy, and cystic kidney diseases.

Dr. Chowdhury is also involved in resident teaching at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury, Connecticut, as Nephrology Clinical Educator, also serving as an Assistant Clinical Professor Frank Netter Medical School and Clinical Instructor Yale University School of Medicine.

Sina Raissi, M.D.

Dr. Sina Raissi attended medical school in Tehran University of medical Sciences, Iran. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University and nephrology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta. During fellowship, he was the recipient of National Kidney Foundation Research Grant Award, publishing on the relationship between metabolic acidosis and negative protein balance in chronic kidney disease. He joined Nephrology and Hypertension associates on September of 2001.

Dr. Raissi is and active member of American College of Physicians, American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation and American Society of Hypertension. He is currently a Clinical Instructor at Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr Raissi is currently involved, as a co-investigator, in a number of clinical studies in patients with end-stage renal disease. He is also an active member of Medicine Department in St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury, Connecticut. His major areas of interest are new frontiers on management of hypertension, calcium and phosphorus metabolism, and glomerulonephritis.

Oltjon Albajrami, M.D.

Dr. Oltjon Albajrami was born and raised in Albania. He received his medical degree at Istanbul University School of Medicine in Turkey in 2008. He completed his Internal Medicine training at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT and subsequently served as a Chief Resident. Then he worked as an Academic Hospitalist and as Lead Hospitalist before pursuing his Nephrology Fellowship at Boston University Medical Center. His interests include diabetic kidney disease with special focus on SGLT-2 inhibitors, CKD, renal replacement therapy and electrolyte disorders. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Board Eligible in Nephrology. He is a member of American Society of Nephrology and American College of Physicians.
